In a picturesque location, Dilsberg Castle rises up on a mountain over the Neckar River valley east of Heidelberg. Built by the Count of Lauffen around 1150 and in the possession of the Rhine Palgraves since 1310, what is today the castle ruins long fulfilled an important military and administrative function.
The ensemble, the main features of which have been preserved until today, consists of the castle and a medieval settlement and constitutes the special importance of the complex. The castle ruins with the observation tower, the castle well and the underground well gallery are certainly worth a visit. Guided tours can be booked on prior arrangement.
