The Dilsberg Lion's Head

The sculpture of a lion's or dragon's head from the first building phase of the castle (approx. 1150-1200) can be seen above the entrance to the Staircase Tower.

The original function and location of the sculpture are unknown.  After the castle was turned down, the head was fixed in the wall of a house in the "Neuhof" area of the town and was not mounted above the Staircase Tower until later.
