Anecdotes

Hochburg in winter

According to legend, a virgin, who was under a curse, lived in the abandoned vaulting of the ruins. Her cursed soul supposedly must watch over the castle treasures until the day someone comes, who only takes as much gold and silver as he can carry home without having to rest. But no one has yet succeeded in restraining his greed at the sight of the treasures. And so the sad virgin must continue to walk the halls. In mild moonlit nights, her song can be heard coming from the crumbling bay windows.

Another legend says that twelve men live deep in the seclusion of the ruins and play with golden pins at night. Only one small boy has ever seen them. But they gave him the gift of a large lump of gold. Since then, the story goes that the twelve help the country as soon as it is struck by a major disaster.
