The ruins of Allerheiligen Monastery lie above waterfalls in the secluded "Oberer Lierbachtal" (Upper Lierbach Valley). The impressive remains of the former Premonstratensian abbey bear witness to an eventful history. The monastery was founded around 1196. For six centuries canons of the Premonstratensian Order lived here and formed the predominant religious and cultural center in this region of the Black Forest. In 1802 the monastery was disbanded in the course of Secularization and the venerable buildings were auctioned off to be torn down.
Today the ruins of the once powerful monastery have a strong romantic attraction. In particular, the combination of a historical testimonial and a nature experience makes it the ideal destination for an excursion for hiking and nature-loving visitors and a pilgrimage site for those who enjoy romantic ruins.
