In the midst of the northern Black Forest in the idyllic "Kinzigtal" (Kinzig Valley) lies the former Alpirsbach Monastery, founded in 1095. The varied history of the building complex of red sandstone spans over 900 years. The Benedictine monastery, which was disbanded with the Reformation, housed a Protestant monastery school for a short time in the 16th century.
A sensational find consisting of clothing, letters and drawings originating from this time has been on display since 2002 in the exhibition entitled "Mönche und Scholaren" (Monks and Scholars) in the new Klostermuseum (Monastery Museum). Today the late Gothic cloister provides an idyllic setting for the cloister concerts presented there.
