In January 1742 Carl Theodor of the Palatinate and Elisabeth Auguste married at Mannheim Palace.  They enjoyed a sumptuous celebration together with their 600 guests. Beginning in late April Meersburg Palace will be open to the public again. It's freshly renovated and furnished according to old inventories. Did the nobility wash itself in courtly times?  What did kings, electors or grand dukes do about hygiene?  The traveling exhibition designed by the State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg entitled "Das stille Örtchen – Tabu und Reichlichkeit bey Hofe" deals with this question. The presentation will open in April at Schussenried Monastery.

The topic of mobility is generally attracting attention in 2011 on the occasion of the "125th anniversary of the automobile".  Old photographs remind visitors of the last Queen of Württemberg, Charlotte, who held her Mercedes-Benz in very high regard.  A special guided tour of Bebenhausen Monastery takes participants on a journey into the past.  How did the abbots once travel to France?

In addition to many other interesting topics, the issue also offers tips on events at the start of the season, e.g. on the topic of mobility.
