The Collegiate Church (Stiftskirche) of the Benedictine monastery of Ochsenhausen is consecrated as a priory of St. Blasien.

1391

 

The Ochsenhausen Convent declares its loyalty to Pope Urban VI and separates from the mother monastery St. Blasien. Ochsenhausen becomes an autonomous abbey.

1489-1495

 

The Monastery Church (Klosterkirche) is built.

1495

 

Ochsenhausen becomes a free imperial abbey.

1615-1632

 

The three-wing Monastery Building (Konventbau) which surrounds the church, is built.

1698

 

The bell tower is increased in height and redecorated in the Baroque style.

1725-1732

 

The Gothic west towers are torn down an the Baroque remodeling of the church is initiated with the convexly curved west facade.

1728-1736

 

Joseph Gabler builds the large organ on the west choir of the Monastery Church.

1743

 

Dominikus Hermenegild Herberger erects the Altar of Benedict.

1785-1789

 

The northern wing of the monastery is completed.

1803

 

In the course of Secularization the monastery is closed and turned over to Count Metternich.

1825

 

Metternich sells Ochsenhausen Monastery to the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Since 1843

 

The buildings are used for various school institutions.

1964-1984

 

The state of Baden-Württemberg renovates the church and the monastery buildings.

Since 1987

 

The foundation "State Academy for Musical Youth" (Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend) of Baden-Württemberg uses part of the former monastery.
