Crypt

At the lower end of the wide staircase that leads down into the crypt, a wrought-iron gate opens into a surprisingly well-lit brick vault borne by columns.  Here lie the family members of the ruling family of Baden. 18 coffins are fitted into the various crypt niches here.  Oval, silver-plated inscription plates on the feet of the coffins provide information on those buried here.  Zinc capsules with the hearts of the dead can be found on some coffins.  Over 300 wreath ribbons serve as reminders of condolences with a broad range of origins.
